All About Winter

This week we learned about winter! We learned the chunks for er, ir, and ur that all make the same sounds in words like winter, bird, and nurse. We added the words love, do, and with to the word wall. They will be adding those words to their cards in their B.E.E. Books next week. We have been counting down the days until Christmas and showing each number on our tens frames. We are excited to do lots of holiday activities next week. What's the Weather?

This week we learned about the weather. We added the words no and was to the word wall and learned the sounds chunks ou and ow for words like shout and cow. They wrote their numbers and worked on addition. Next week we will talk about the winter and the changes that happen during winter. Check out the video below of our class weather report.

Look What We Have Learned

This week we read our first KinderRoots story and it went great! The students read with their partners and read together as a whole class. Next week we will move on to the next book. They finished learning the alphabet chant and the video of it is below. We worked on addition, 2-D and 3-D shapes, number writing, and creating shapes this week. Below are some pictures of some designs they created after they were done building shapes. Next week we will begin to talk about the season of winter and the weather. We have lots of fun activities. Gobble, Gobble

We had a fun two days reviewing our letter sounds and doing Thanksgiving activities. Below are some pictures from the week. Attached on the right is the Newsletter for next week. Letter Sound Celebration!

This week the students learned the last two letter sounds q and x. Now they know them all!! This week we also started to work on number stories and addition. Next week we will review the letter sounds and have a lot of fun Thanksgiving activities to do. Check out our letter sounds celebration below!

The Food Groups

This week the students learned about the food groups. We talked about healthy and unhealthy foods. We talked about how our bodies need healthy food for energy. Next week we will continue talking about the food groups and also talk about where food comes from. They learned five new letter sounds/chunks this week. Next week they will learn the last two letter sounds!! Check out the video below to see some of the things they learned this week.

Happy Halloween!!

This week we had a lot of fun doing halloween, scarecrow, pumpkin, and apple activities! With these activities they were able to practice their letter sound skills, sounding out skills, and different math skills. Next week we will resume the curriculum by learning about the different food groups and healthy foods. Below are a couple of pictures from the week and a video from Halloween. Pumpkin Patch

We had a lot of fun at the pumpkin patch today!! Below are pictures from the field trip and a video of their favorite things from the pumpkin patch. This week they learned the letter sounds for z and w. Next week we will be doing Halloween activities, pumpkin activities, and apple activities for the fall. They will not be learning a new letter next week and will not be bringing home a book for homework. Enjoy your four day weekend with the kids!!

Fall Fun

This week we continued to talk about fall. We began to talk about where food comes from. We explored the different things that people have on farms, such as cows, pigs, corn, wheat, etc. They learned the sounds for the letter chunks ee and sh and also learned the letter sound h. Next week we will continue to learn about fall and do leaf activities. Our field trip to the Pumpkin Patch is on Wednesday. If you have not returned the permission slip and money, please do so. Please make sure that they wear a jacket and tennis shoes on Wednesday and that they bring a packed lunch. They are very excited and so am I! Below is a video and pictures of what we did this week.
